I was bitten by the travel bug at the young age of three when my parents took me out of the comfort of my birthplace, Kyiv (Ukraine) and brought me to the Czech Republic. I found my home at the International School of Prague where I spent 13 years of my life traveling and discovering my passion for writing.
After I graduated ISP with an IB diploma, I decided against pursuing a degree in Journalism and enrolled at the Anglo American University in Prague. While studying for my BA in International Relations I began writing in my free time. My first published article was for The Bridge, a magazine run by the International Women’s Association of Prague.
During my study abroad semester at the University of Hawaii at Hilo I found myself writing more than ever and got published in the national daily paper. By the time I graduated AAU in July 2014, I had a nice portfolio of published articles that was much harder to hang on a wall than the shiny diploma.
Instead I decided to compile an online portfolio. www.thetravelbugbite.com is my way of organizing years of published articles and presenting them to friends, potential employers and whoever else happens to come across them. www.thealohabugbite.com is a website dedicated to Hawaii-related content.
In addition to keeping track of all my writing, I want the The Travel Bug Bite to also act as a blog for whenever I want to share stories from my travels or bug-eating adventures. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention entomophagy which basically means adding abundant and sustainable crawling protein sources (insects) to our menus.
Rant over. Contact me to turn this monologue into a conversation.
